Preliminary Task: cover & contents page

 

 I have chosen these colours as the black and red fits into the uniform, this is good because it shows a resemblance to the person in the picture. I have also used the school badge to show how it links to the school as well as the school name. Also the person on the front cover wears school uniform so it can relate to school.

I have used yellow for the writing as it stands out best when it is applied to a black background.
The pictures on the contents page link to the text as it projects the text by showing the main point of the text E.G: The 'Big Story' page has the Kenyan flag opposite, this is because the 'Big Story' focuses on Kenya.
I asked my peers about their opinions on my cover and contents. The peer commented on the positive aspects.
The peer said that the cover was a good first attempt as it included common conventions that are included in existing conventional magazines.
The peer also commented on the negative aspects. The peer said that on both the cover and the contents, there was a lot of dead space. This could be a positive aspect but also it could be a negative aspect as it could make the products look less conventional there for it could be classed as unprofessional but also it could be a positive as it would make the page look less crowded.
