Typography – what style and size fonts are used?Why? What do you think the intended effect of using them is?
| ·Simple font; this makes it easier for the audience to understand. ·Serif styled font; this creates an old fashion styled view on the text. ·Different font to represent different articles; this gives the contents page a variety.
The intended effect of using these is that it gives a variety of different fonts to look at; this is good as it makes it look more interesting.
| ·Simple fonts; this makes things easier when the audience are reading it. ·Clear fonts; this makes it easier for the audience to read the text as it is clear and understandable. ·Titles are in a different colour; this makes the audience recognise the title for the certain section of content the magazine contains.
The intended effect of using these is that it allows the audience to understand details that the contents page offers.
| ·Simple text; this is a good aspect as it makes it easier when it comes to the audience reading it. ·Bold font; this makes the te4xt stand out more and it makes it easier for the audience to read it. ·Different text to represent the stand first; this good as it gives the audience an insight into what the article is a about.
The intended effect of using these is that it makes it easier for the audience to understand the text on the page and it makes things much simpler.

| ·The contents are arranged around the side, this is a good aspect as it makes it easier to find certain articles. ·The regulars are put near the bottom; this is because they’re the same every issue and they don’t need to be shown off more. ·The pictures show who the article is about rather than just having text that says who they are.
The effects of having these points in place is that it makes things easier to find specific articles on the contents as they’re in alphabetical order and the pictures are ordered.
| ·The contents are arranged in order of what section they’re in, for example all the ‘Regulars’ are in the same area of the page so it helps when you’re looking for a specific area. ·The pictures in a specific location on the page with the page number of what article they relate to; this is good as it allows the audience to look for the article as well. ·The logo is at the top right of the page; this is good as it doesn’t take up much space but it’s still visible. Having the logo on the contents page is a common feature to magazines. Also the company want to make themselves seen.
The intended effect of having these points in place is that it makes things easier for the audience as it has the contents in order and also it makes it easier for the audience to find specific things.
| ·The contents are arranged down the left-hand side to give room for a large picture; this is good as it allows the audience to see who the band or artist is. ·The pictures have a box in which contains information linking to the picture; generally it’s a quote from the article. · The more common features on the page are placed at the bottom; this is because they’re seen in all the Q magazines.
The effect of having of putting these in places is that it makes it easier for the audience because they know where things a placed on the contents.

| ·Informal; this allows the magazine to relate to the audience more than maybe a formal magazine will. ·The magazine addresses the audience by telling them information about the artist.
The intended effect of addressing the audience this way is to make the audience feel like the magazine is talking to the audience, making the audience feel like the magazine is telling them information.
| ·Informal; this allows the magazine to relate more to the audience as it includes slang/bad language which wouldn’t be seen in a formal magazine. ·The magazine addresses the audience as if the magazine is a fact book, it informs the audience. This is the main idea behind magazines.
The intended effect of addressing the audience this way is to make the audience feel like the magazine is talking to them.
| ·Formal language; this makes the magazine suitable to all as it wouldn’t contain bad language or slang words. ·The magazine addresses the audience in a way that it makes the magazine seem like an information booklet, informing the audience; this is good as it helps the audience learn/understand more about certain artists.

Colour – what effect does the colour have?What is the symbolism of the colour used? What’s the intended effect on the audience of the colour scheme?
| ·Neutral colours; these are used so that the colours don’t protrude too much over the pictures. ·The use of red on the numbers; this makes the numbers stand out enough to be noticed but not enough to stand out too much. ·The colours don’t mix; this is good as If the colours did mix, it would look confusing and everything would blend together too much.
The intended effect on the audience of the colour scheme is that it creates variety on the cover as the colours are different and they don’t mix.
| ·Neutral colours, these are used because the colours don’t stand out too much and they don’t standout over the pictures. ·Title colours; having title colours helps the audience know what articles belong to what section E.G: Regulars-the articles which appear frequently.
The intended effect on the audience of the colour scheme is that it shows change throughout the magazine, variety.
| ·The use of red; this is used as it makes the features stand out more and it also links to the house style as it is a consistent colour. ·A light background; this is good as It makes the page look bright, but it doesn’t make the content blend in too much.

Camerawork – in the images, what shot types and angles have been used?Why? What’s the intended effect on the audience? (See G322 booklet for shot types)
| ·Medium long shot; this allows the audience to see the action of the person in the picture. ·Close up; this allows the audience to see what the facial expression of the person in the photo is. ·Medium shot; this allows the audience to see not just the action the person does but the audience gets to see the facial expression as well
The intended effect on the audience is that it allows the audience to see the up close aspects of the picture; the camera work reveals more details of the people in the photo.
| ·A straight on close up; this is used to show the clear detailed facial expression. ·Medium long shot looking to the left side of the person; having this shot allows the audience to see the action of the character in the picture. On the contents page it shows a male character singing into a microphone.
The intended effect on the audience is that it lets the audience see different angles of the people involved In the article and also it allows the audience to see what the people in the article look like
| ·Long shot looking face on; this shows the audience what the band look like and who they are. This is good as it shows us who they are if we didn’t know who they are. ·Another Long shot has been used on a photo on this page. This long shot allows us to see the environment in which the photo was taken as well as allowing us to see who the person is.
The intended effect on the audience is that it lets the audience see who the interviewed artists/bands are, what they look like.

| ·Smart clothes; this shows the audience that the people who’re in the magazine dress smart and look respectable. ·Instrument; this shows the audience that the article the picture is representing could suggest that it will be an article that will talk about a live show. ·Microphone; this shows the audience that the article may contain information about a live show.
The intended effect on the audience is that it gives the audience the impression of informality due to the clothing as props used in the pictures.
| ·Smart clothes; shows that not all musicians dress informal; it shows the respectable side of the music industry. ·Microphone; this shows that the article could relate to a live performance, a live show review. ·The setting; this could represent the location which his maybe involved with the article; an open field with lots of people could suggest a festival.
The intended effect on the audience is that it gives the audience more of an insight into the music industry due to way the pictures represent the way famous musicians are presented.
| ·Casual clothing; this shows the more casual side to certain musician and it allows the audience to see the other side of famous musicians. ·Countryside setting; this gives the picture a strange feel as it shows a band in an unusual area.
The intended effect on the audience is that it gives a different perspective on the life of famous musicians.
